Having been a long time fan of Ms. Kenyons I was like a lot of you mixed on how this story was going to play out. After all wasn't Acheron the one who'd been wronged? Hadn't he been the one to be made a whore and used by any one that had the coin, and then betrayed by Artie? I was prepared to have those feelings reaffirmed or even my hatred of Styxx made even stronger. 

  But as we have all been shown there really is two sides to every story, and now we have the pleasure of seeing just what the "pampered prince" did, what he was like and how the God's Fucked him and Acheron (pardon the pun) royally and divinely.

  Growing up the son and heir to a great city state you would think that life would be a lovely bowl of honeyed figs right? Not so apparently for Styxx. His father doubted his parentage, and even went so far as to cut him to see if he would bleed, he sent him to the priests in  Dionysus's  temple because he thought he'd been possessed....The things that King Xeres did to Styxx are too numerous to count (and I don't want to give away too much ;-)  ) Add to all that his sister loathes the very ground and air that he breathes, and his twin has come to hate him as well. The mother that should love him, is drunk all the time and has even tried to kill him.

 Styxx is for all intent and purposes Alone.

  It takes a chance meeting at a small pond and a blind girl to allow him to know what true love is like. Until...yet again Apollo and his ever scheming ways rip those things from him.

 Fast forward eleven thousand years and everything is different, the world has changed, but so has Styxx. He had been locked in Hades on the vanishing isle by himself, no one to talk to, to socialize with....

  Wow...this is really beginning to sound like a book report. Blah! I hate those.

  So without giving to much more away.

Can Styxx overcome the tragic past that he and Acheron share, can either of them learn to be the brothers that they once claimed to be, or will their hatred and loathing kill everything and everyone that they have ever loved?

 Buy the book my loverlies and find out for yourselves. I promise Ms. Kenyon delivers and you won't be disappointed. Frustrated, emotional, and blindingly overcome with joy....Sure.

As always I can't wait to read the next installment in this ever changing series, or any of her other series for that matter.

 I happened to pick this book up by chance from my local store on the off chance that it was a great book. I was mistaken.

 This book was Freaking EPIC!!!!  I have read countless books, and some pretty amazing authors before. I love each and every one of the authors that I loyally read. Some admittedly more than others, lol. But  regardless  this book knocked me off my socks! This is the first I've ever read from the delightful Lindsey Piper and I can honestly tell you I will definitely be picking up more from her!

 What's a mother to do when her husbands been murdered, her son and herself captured and experimented on? Find a way to escape by any means necessary. 

  Then she wakes in a cage underground, and an unknown male entering her cage? Deciding to attack before she is attacked she picks up a rock and launches herself at the unknown person.

 What follows is weeks, months of trials and hardships for both the Asters Champion Leto and Nynn the sworn enemy of the Asters. Can either of them learn to trust the other and let go of the past in time to rescue  their selves  and their loved ones? Or will they be defeated in the Cages and  dissected  by the Asters?

A definite must read for those of you that love new tales of the paranormal. Sexy dragons....Hell to the Yeah! Sign me up!! ;)

  A delightful take on the shifter story, I couldn't stop reading it once I had started!

  Danica is the pack healer, but due to an unfortunate accident has been left horribly scarred and depressed. She's accepted that she'll be alone...

  Enter Nevan single guy with a broken heart and empathic abilities. Add to that he grew up with Lions, so he already knows about the shifter world that is so secretive.

  Together the sparks fly almost immediately, the Alpha stepping in starts tempers flying and an issue is challenged for Danica. Can Nevan hold his own against shifters? Can he hold onto the woman that he is beginning to love?

  Well go buy the book and find out ;-)

  I can't wait to read more in this  delicious  series.

 A definite five star story, I couldn't stop once I started reading this awesome story.
  Jax has out done herself yet again, her world building skills and attention to detail are on top! Add to that her awesome story and sexual tension between her main characters...Whew!
 The story picks up some fifty years after her last installment in the Morphates story. For those of you who haven't been following Jaquelyn or Jax, the first and only other installment was in an Anthology) The Morphates are the unfortunate people that were stolen from their daily lives, or from the lowest cess pools of society and experimented on by one evil scientist. 
  What's different about this story from other authors out there is that The Morphates are immortal, they can literally come back from the dead, won't age, nada.
  The main characters in this story however are in certain roles...protector and protectee.... So there is some MAJOR protocols being challenged and just plain thrown out the window, and I don't know about ya'll but I'm old enough to remember the movie The Bodyguard with Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner. That didn't turn out so well in the end for the bodyguard :( 

   On the other hand Devon has developed weapons that can kill the Morphates, and needless to say....They're not too happy about that, thus her need for a Bodyguard detail.
   Whats going to happen? Who's going to die? Who's going to love and cross boundaries? Well pick up the book sillies, and read!! ;) I promise you won't be disappointed.

D.L. Jackson " Rebels and Courtesans"

I was asked to read and review this book by the wonderful Ms. Jackson, whom sent me the print copy along with some extra swag. I can honestly tell you getting that box in the mail was the highlight of my day!
I rate this book a HUGE Five Stars

 Rebels and Courtesans is actually two stories Rebel Souls, and Courtesan Boot Camp both stories are fantastic! I fell in love with both worlds, the depth and description that D.L. gives is remarkable!

Genetically engineered, raised from birth for no other purpose than to become the Ruellen Courtesan, Shay is one of four candidates left vying for the coveted spot. They're expected to be courteous, and polite, to not form "attachment" to their trainers and so on so forth.
 What no one expects is that from a young age the hard headed Shay fell in love with the Ruellen Prince and vowed to be his Courtesan. Fast forward and its time for final selections, Shay enters into the final stage of her training, only to find out its not quite what she expects....
 dun dun dun.... I can't reveal much more than that without giving away the goods! But trust me the description and attention to detail is amazing, and the emotion off the star charts! ;)

  We find Captain Frost in the thick of things right from the word go, and she's no shy miss either! She leaves the Legatus speechless as she flys backwards through a worm hole! Can we say CRAZY! Yes we can class! ;)
   What entails after that is an epic adventure of twists and turns, love, and jealousy! But my oh my what an awesome ending! Just open it and see!
 Once again D.L.'s attention to detail and emotion is off the scales.

     So without further ado, the beautiful gem that is debuting on Dark Desires Book Blog today is... Marshal of Hel Dorado by Heather Long

      As expected it has certainly not disappointed. Heather's world building skills and knack for bringing it to such vividity is as always done remarkably well. Right down to the mannerisms and even the clothing of that era.

      I particularly liked how the Kane men could "sense" when they crossed on to their land, and to some degree also had some intuition.

     Scarlett's unerring loyalty to her brothers is admirable, especially since she was so conflicted about confiding in and trusting Sam Kane.

     Add to all this the elder Kane and Cobb and their way of turning and molding things in the direction that they want them to go in,......LOVE IT!

     There is also the allure of other "special gifts" in the story, but I have to save some of the surprise for you the readers, right. ;)

     Overall this Fabulous book is a must read, especially if you like to take a step back in time, or to another world.  I am definitely looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Anticipation!!!

Sherrilyn Kenyon's newest book Styxx is coming out in just days, so I am re-reading Acheron by this awesome author. It's been awhile since I've read it and already I'm finding things that I missed my first time through, lol.

  I'm still not sure if I want to "like" Styxx, not after the horrendous childhood that Acheron endured. :( But as the Author Goddess has said every story has two sides, and no one has heard Styxx's side yet. So I'll reserve opinion on that score ;)

   I've always been a sucker for a hard luck story and Acheron's is definitely one of those "hard luck" story.  For those of you that are loyal Kenyon Minions, then you know what I'm talking about, but for those of you that don't....

   Acheron while just a babe in utero was threatened by his own father Archon, the head of the Atlantean Gods, due to a prophecy that Archon's three daughters (we know them as the three fates) decreed.
   Acheron would bring about the end to the Atlantean Pantheon.

His Goddess mother Apollymi wouldn't hear of it, and so cut him from her womb and had her niece Basi put him inside a pregnant Queen's body, and tie his lifeforce to that of the other babes.

   And that ladies and gents is just the tip of the iceberg to the tragic story of dear Acheron, and I'm not even to the best parts yet!

If you want my opinion, if you haven't read any of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series....You should. It's a really great series that will take you on a whirl wind adventure and have you questioning if there really is vampires out there, and if so...Did Apollo create them?
